From my own experience with the technology, Meru's SCA scales very well. I manage a campus with around 800 (and growing) Meru AP320s. Except in areas where we stack channels for client density, the whole campus runs on a single channel. We typically have between 1000 and 1600 clients on simultaneously.

Our deployment is far from the largest Meru deployment out there. From the larger customers I have talked to, they chose Meru particularly for their ability to scale in large deployments and to support VoIP very well. I can't speak much for those customers other than they seem very happy and typically came from a traditional micro-cell product first.
