Greetings. Sometimes a wireless system is (poorly) set up that consists of, say, 3 access points that have WPA2-Personal with the same SSID and passphrase, but they are functioning as independent gateways, each acting as a DHCP server and are "unaware" of the other. Obviously no 802.11k/v/r is helping the client roam.

But the client still figures out how to move between devices, though it's disruptive.

My question is... how does the client know to re-issue a DHCP request in that scenario? Is it the absence of any neighbor reports from the AP? I imagine different clients have different behavior, but I'm curious for any thoughts.

    Thanks!
