New 802.11bf Standard Promotes Locating and Tracking Wi-Fi Devices

The IEEE is (supposedly) on track to issue a new standard, 802.11bf sometime in 2023.
This standard should allow Wi-Fi devices to be located and tracked using a much more robust, and relatively open sourced methods as compared to current proprietary methods.

The WFA has nothing listed regarding 802.11bf, and since retiring I am no longer a member hence I have no insights there.
As with any new chip sets, I must repeat my warning regarding equipment based on DRAFT releases of 802.11 standards. Do not make any large financial commitments until the Draft status is exceeded. Be very careful to read manufacturers claims, as they sometimes obfuscate this detail. Many companies, including an old employer of mine were extremely misled by one of these manufacturers, which cost them dearly with extra time-to-market delays .
