    Hi All,

I m new to wireless. Please do not mind if I am asking this silly question.

Whether WPS (Push or PIN ) should work for a client when SSID broadcast of the AP is disabled.

    Thanks
    Manas

  • Yes. The whole purpose of WPS is so that clients who know nothing about a SSID can still use the WiFi. He has to either know the PIN or physically be at the AP to use the PBC, and be recognized by the registrar. This defeats the potential hacker. Whether the SSID is cloaked is irrelevant. And if the SSID is disabled in the beacon, a legitimate user (without WPS) will only have to manually enter the SSID (which he should know) during an active scan. Sorry for the late input, but I was searching the archives for info on out of band configuration on WPS.
