Good Morning,

First off, my apologies for not doing the due diligence myself to find this answer, but I'm in the field and away from my CWNA and O'Reilly books. Also, I need an answer asap if at all possible please.

I have a STA that is initially assoc'd to AP1. The STA is moved, and it roams to AP2, but then it roams back to AP1. What is the sequence of packets I should see in the traces for a station that has roamed and should stayed assoc'd to the new ap?

I believe I should see :

First Probe Request (from sta)
First Beacon (from new ap)
Auth Req (to new ap)
Auth Resp (from new ap)
Assoc Req (from sta to new ap)
Assoc Resp (from new ap)
First Data (an ack'd packet from new ap)

Is that the sequence, or am I missing something?

You are missing the dissassociation frame the STA should send to AP1 and the following ACK.

Are the APs part of the same ESS? If so there are other frames too.
