client to switch from 802.11g to 802.11b

Hey All,

This is just my head running abit. ? -

A client is roaming a 802.11g network. As it gets farther away, the speed will drop in the normal way, 56 - 48- 36.... til when will it go to CCK from OFDM? Will it try 9 and 6 Mbps first, before swoping to CCK and tring 11Mbps?? Yes, in a mixed network.

What a great question!

Actually, I've never thought to look at this. I've never read anything in the standard or amendment that addresses it, so I'm betting that however it works, it's vendor-specific to the radio chipset used in the PC Card.
