Why doesn't my 802.11b home access point interfere with my 2.4 cordless phone. People I work with told me that I would have interference issues with my 2.4 cordless phone and access point, but everything works great.

You're lucky!
I know people who have cordless phone
and as soon as there's an incoming call
on it, the entire wireless router connection
to the Internet crashes....
And in some cases, it doesn't matter what
channels are used in the router, or on the
cordless phone, although theoretically,
using channel separation of ch1, 6, and 11
they could co-exist. In those cases, they can't!
What brand are you using of cordless, and of
your wireless router ?! -
Well you could be getting lucky and have a DSS cordless phone and it's set on channel 1 and your WLAN is on 11.
There are some out there, but most I have seen are Frequency hopping.
