NATting device vs AP

AP's don't have anything to do with layer 3 protocols, and they don't know what an IP address or NATing is.
I know you are thinking, what about an off the shelf Linksys or Netgear router/AP/Switch. It is best to think about these as separate devices that are just housed in the same box. So, think of a router connected to a switch, that is connected to an AP. I see that you are a CCNA, so that should help you.
