Hi folks,
I understand the importance of site surveys for new implementations, but in a situation where an extensive WLAN already exists what are the best practices/guidelines to maintain an enteprise WLAN, to ensure it remains effective and reliable.
Can anyone give general tips or point me in the direction of some useful whitepapers/books?
While waiting for my CWNP training courses to roll around in August, I would like to get some background on the topic.
Thanks,

Hi ,
Site Survey/ Analysis of a Wireless network is essential even after installation.
You might have to do the following things.
1) Check if Access Points are co-located Properly.
You can cross check with the Intial sitesurvey document if one exists.
2) Wlan Coverage area should not bleed out of your facilty.
3) Check for Potential Sources of interference.
4) Check the Existing Security policies and if they are not upto date
Update them.
5) Make a policy that doesn't allow clients to get Asociate at lowest
data rates.
6) Wlan should be separated from Wired Network.
7) Check if Proper inventory of Wireless materials is Maintained.
8) Strengthen your Physical Security.
9) Walk through the facility daily to find rogue devices.
/if it is a huge Enterprise go for a WIDS.
(e.g) AirDefense
10) Make sure that all the devices in your network have the Latest firmware on them.
A lot more can be mentioned .
In short you have to always look out for ways to improve
1) RF Propagation
2) Security
3) Performance.
