Doing a survey today I noticed an SSID of nybwap. There were a few interesting things that I noticed with this SSID. One was every time I saw it, it had a new MAC. I could sit in the same spot turn off my card turn it back on an see a new nybwap with a new MAC. Now I beleive it is something my computer is coming up with ..........a virus maybe? It was almost always a very strong signal.
I have done an awful lot of surveys and have never seen anything like this.
Very similar to the "sears" SST-PR-1
Does anyone have a clue what this nybwap is?
One more thing, this is in the ADHOC mode. -
Doing a bit of research BWap could be one of those adhoc or fake AP like hotspots that lure you in to take over your computer. It is most likely an Open Source coded SSID that is used by some wardriver.
