Captive Portal Query

I have setup a Captive Portal on a Dlink DWS-3024 managed system. I have a SSID called guest with no security settings. I have assigned the Captive Portal to this SSID. At the moment everything seems to work OK but I do have some queries:

1) Uses connect to the wireless like any other wireless network. When connected they are unable to browse to any websits. The only website they can get to is the portal login. What do other people do to point them to this website/login? Currently I have set up a DNS entry so users must first go to http://wireless to enter their login details. Once in they can go to any webstie

2) We also have to have the users go through a proxy to access the internet. Is there anyway to automatic this? At the moment the guest users has to manually enter the proxy settings in IE settings.

I still have to setup VLANs to make it more secure but want to get these little niggles sorted first.
