how is 802.1X/EAP port-based authentication deployed in an IBSS or Ad-hoc WLAN?

I'm not sure that it is ever is... but... I guess it could work if you ran a RADIUS server on one of the laptops. I've never looked to see if client software will support a .1X connection while in Ad-Hoc. Anyone else?

This seems a possible option but throughout my experience I am told that 802.11 Ad-hoc networks doesn't support this beacuse they don't have AP(Authenticator) required for 802.1X process.
Also, I've never seen any NIC supporting it. Though there are lot that supports WPA/2 PSK.
