I agree with GTHill. 11a has more bandwidth available (23 non-overlapping channels), and less likelihood of interfering devices. However, 11a (all factors constant with 11g) is a smaller coverage.

I'm currently implementing Cisco mesh solution into production using 802.11a backhaul and voice traffic over the same radio. Seems to run ok in lab environment, will be interested to see how it goes.
