Both very cool tools. Here is another suggsetion:
Don't use Vista! X-D -
Ditto that.
Remember when XP first came out? Sucked, didn't it? Then SP1 fixed a few issues, then SP2 made it a pretty decent OS. Ask yourself how long between XP launch and SP2. That's how long it will be until Vista is usable.
Meantime, don't go near it. -
Just to add to the XP-Vista twister: Microsoft introduced SP3:

SP3 also rolls up a variety of previous patches and hot fixes. Particularly noteworthy for Wi-Fi users is Wi-Fi Protected Access 2, which supports the new Wi-Fi Alliance certification for secure wireless networks. WPA2 is already available in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003 with SP2.
If you are really key on Vista try this:

Thanks for posting that URL to PassMark, I had not seen this WLAN discovery software tool.
I really like the "real-time" GPS display with imported maps feature:

The only downside I see is that they want $50 for a WLAN discovery tool when 95% of the WLAN discovery software is free. Although I cannot blame anyone for wanting to make a few bucks on their product they developed. -

That is all true but I HIGHLY recommend not using the Windows supplicant if at all possible. It has many known and published security holes. The DoD and most US Government agencies have a VERY strict policy about disabling the XP supplicant (Wireless Zero Configuration Service).
The best way to go is to use third-party supplicant software:

or even better, a FIPS compliant supplicant:
