WPA and WPA2 use TKIP and CCMP ( RC4 and AES ) to encrypt the payload and use a MIC ( Message integrity code ) to protect the header, which is not encrypted, and the integrity of the payload. WPA2 is extremely safe and quite close to being unbreakable ( but you never know ). Check out this link:
