PBKDF2

I have a colleague that has recently reported an issue validating an Intermec WA21B using WPA-PSK. This model access point uses PBKDF2 to encrypt the passphrase and this does not appear to be supported on any of the client's they are validating. Furthermore, the WA21B does not allow hex characters to be entered (only the passphrase) and obviously hashes out the hex characters.
The issue...... most clients’ that have been tested with this product to date appear to not support PBKDF2. I am interested in knowing if anyone has come across this and if they are aware of a work-around. -
Hi Mark:
This may only be a help to others like myself wondering what PBKDF2 is:
password-based-key-derivation-function-2 from the PKCS#5 v2.0 Password-Based Cryptography Standard.

Also see amendment 802.11i Annex H.4 Suggested pass-phrase-to-preshared-key mapping, which references PBKDF2.
Thanks. /criss
