Does anyone have any information about what anyone is doing for location tracking in healthcare? There are a number of institutions who are looking to do this to track beds, wheelchars, IV pumps, etc and they want to know what everyone else is doing. Some are doing VoWifi, as well for communication as well as unwittingly tracking users.

What are your healthcare institutions doing?

Wi-fi tags are the best solution for asset/location tracking. Well known vendors are Ekahau, AeroScout

Thanks for the ideas. The customer has half Cisco APs (250) and Half Aruba APs (300) right now with a Cisco Location Appliance. We introduced Airwave, since it can do location tracking for both at the same time, as well as detailed roaming and access records for both. I guess room-level granularity as well as maybe 5 minute updates would be sufficient. Does Newbury and Aeroscout and Eckahau manage multiple WLANs at the same time?
