Wlan 2.4ghz interference

    hi,

    i got some doubt about 2.4Ghz channel.
    Does different SSID using the same channel is consider interference.

    Based on my understanding is yes. Any opinion?

    Yes, no matter what the SSID is, the center frequency for all the channels are still the same for HR/DSSS & ERP PHYs (in the USA or if the country you are in follows FCC or ETSI standards).

    So if you are using Channel 1 on AP-1 and Channel 1 on AP-2, both of them will have a center frequency of 2.412 GHz .. So they will definitely interfere with each other (assuming that both are in close proximity and have an overlapping coverage pattern).

    Each channel is 22MHz wide for 802.11b/g and hence the 25MHz separation between non-overlapping channels (1,6,11 - FCC).

    Edit :: Oh something that I overlooked - If you've multiple SSID on the same AP, then they will need to use the same channel (at least that is the case on my Aironet AP1230s).
