    Yeah, I remember the analogy from the course.

    So at a specific point you will get a better signal from a higher gain omni (if you are within the donut)?

    Even once you drop the system power so that your EIRP is the same?

    It seems that if the signal leaving the antenna is 100 mw, if you're in the coverage area, your received signal is the same, regardless of antenna - 100mW is 100mW.....

    I see why a higher gain antenna would stop overflow of signal above and below.


    If we use Donut theory, the volume will spread the donut out, so the edge will be further out...

    I see it, just not sure I understand why....

    Or could we say that due to the antenna shape, if you are standing 50m away from a higher gain antenna, you get a better signal because the antenna makes it look like the source WAS at higher power when it wasn't... That would make sense.
