Encryption method vs Encryption algorithm

Thanks Marc, Criss, et al.
You are correct that the question is based upon a re-worded statement from the study guide. In this case a poor one that needs to be updated. It will be in the next release.
I think Criss and Compughter have done a great job of clarifying the concept, so I won't duplicate their effort (except you should have said begat instead of gave birth!)
To me it is important to understand the differences between the encryption algorithm and how it is implemented. E.g. understand that RC4 is used in both WEP and TKIP and that is why most vendors have the option to firmware upgrade their products to be WPA compatible but not WPA2 compatible (read going from RC4 to AES). TKIP and CCMP are how RC4 and AES gets implemented.
I think my next step is to add a forums page so that people can provide feedback on making the test prep products better. However, posting here for discussion is fine as well, and benefits a lot of future CWNAs.
Take care,
