I ran into a strange issue when I setup EAP-PEAP authentication on a Cisco Aironet 1230 AP. Every time the AP was rebooted or somehow lost power, the EAP setting would be set back to off. Causing the setup to not work right. The issue was with IOS ver 12.3(4)JA and the ap configured with 1 ssid. The ssid had wep 40bit encryption, eap as mandatory. My radius server is a windows 2k server that works with several other ap's setup the exact same way with a different IOS. I upgraded to IOS 12.3(7)JA and everything went back to working normally. I don't know if Cisco's IOS 12.3(4) release was just a mistake but it did not work in our environment.
