Hi everyone.

I want to design a wireless LAN for a complete building as an college assignment.

Desired data rate is 11Mbps,
Application is requiring a small BW (access mails)
No no of users mentioned so I am taking 30-40
users per AP.

Can someone help me in selecting the components?
I was thinking about using CISCO Aironet 350 APs.

Do I require to use VPN? Or the security services provided by the instruments enough?

Which switches should I use?

hmm...sounds a lot like you need help with your assignment. I'd suggest you do some basic research, read some whitepapers and come back with specific questions, if any.

This is a great chance for you to learn everything about designing and implementing a wireless LAN. No amount of classroom lessons is ever going to teach you what you'll learn doing things hands on.
Go with the site survey templates as they'll make your work manageable.
