If I use a splitter to go between my AP and 2 antennas, does it split the current in half as it goes through the splitter or does the current stay the same as it travels through the splitter.

The current splits in half as it goes from the input of the splitter to the two output connectors. If there are 3 output connectors, then it will be split into 1/3. E=I*R is Ohms Law. The voltage across the output terminals is the same as it is across the input terminal, but the current is split among the connectors. Voltage x 1/2 the current = 1/2 the Power. Then, you also have to look at the insertion loss of the splitter. Some splitters may cause as much as 1 dB loss between the input port and the combination of all the output ports.
