  • Hello everyone, X-D

As you know, the ISM bands have been defined by the International Telecommunication Union ITU-R (Radio Regulations). There are several ISM bands; however, 2.4GHz and 5GHz are the most dominant and popular ISM bands used for wireless networking. Luckily, several countries had opened-up these bands for users and allowed unlicensed use for indoor and outdoor (backhaul) operation. However, few countries still prohibit the use of ISM bands for outdoor (backhaul/bridge) connectivity.

Can you please help and share your insight about:

    1) How many countries allowed unlicensed ISM band for outdoor connectivity (backhaul)?

    2) Is the 5.8GHz allowed in Europe for outdoor (backhaul) connectivity?

    3) Is there an international treaty that enforces local regulators to open-up ISM band for both indoor and outdoor applications? Specially these countries who are members in the World Trade Organization (WTO)?

    4) Is there any recent study/comparison bet???¡é?¡é?????¡é???¡é different regulators/countries on the use of ISM bands (Indoor and outdoor) specially the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz - for WiFi or other Spread Spectrum radio communication?

    Thanks in advance, SAM.
