For what it's worth, here is a tripod stand that I recently bought to replace one that an airline recently broke on a trip (it got stuck in a coat closet and they broke it while trying to shake it loose).

It's built well for large outdoor wireless radio units and only cost $40US (plus $5US for 2-5 day shipping).[/url]
