Welcome back Reader,
During day 3 we covered Chapter 8 ?¡é?€?¡° 802.11 Service Sets, Chapter 9 ?¡é?€?¡° WLAN Analysis, and Chapter 10 ?¡é?€?¡° Coordinating Frame Transmissions. We skipped Chapter 7 this day because there were some specific topics that needed to be covered by Devin Akin who was absent. Chapter 7 will be covered on Day 4.
Our instructor, David Coleman, has done a great job of keeping us on track and bringing the ?¡é?€??students?¡é?€?? back inline when the conversations become too deep. It is quite apparent that David has done his homework on learning the new content. I highly recommend him if you get a chance to attend any of his CWNP courses.
Chapter 8 covers different types of WLANs and all the client processes that occur while the client connects, communicates, and roams through the WLAN environment. Chapter 9 discusses WLAN analysis. We talked about different protocol analyzers and all the different frame types involved in WLANs. Chapter 10 covers CSMA/CD and CSMA/CA, DCF, all the IFS (Inter-Frame Spacing) types, PCF, and QoS with 802.11e and WMM.
Tomorrow we cover PoE and WLAN security. Security will take quite some time since it's such an important part of a WLAN administrator's career.
