dBM measures power change in regards to mW. Here's how I look at it:
a 3 dB change is x2 the power or 1/2 if -3 dB
a 10 dB change is x10 the power or 1/10 if -10dB
converting dBm -> mW - just do addition
13 dBM (how do I get 13?) =
10 + 3 =
x10 x 2=
1mw x10 x2 = 20mw
13 dBM = 20 mw
another example: 29 dBM = ?mW (how do I get 29?)
10 + 10 + 3 +3 +3 =
x10 x10 x2 x2 x2 =
1mw x 10 x 10 x 2 x2 x2 =
(10x10=100) x 2 (=200) x 2 (=400) x 2 (=800)
29 dBM = 800 mW
Reverse that now convert mW -> dBM
400 mw = how many dBM
1mW x ? x? x? = 400?
1mW x 10 x 10 x 2 x 2 =400 mw
add 10 + 10 + 3 +3 = 26 dBM
I believe this is correct;
