Transmission Speed Rate

    Hi ,
    i like to ask what it the maximum transmission speed for 802.11b and 802.11g.
    in linux we can set the rate to 11Mbits for 802.11b but can we make the speed 54Mbits for 11g, or the 11Mbits is the maximum trasmissoin speed for both in that case what how the speed of 11g will reach to 54Mbits

    i hope to explain this point for me since its unclear for me

    Hi Freedom900 of Stockholm:

    You are correct that the maximum rate for HR/DSSS (802.11b) stations is 11 Mbps and the maximum rate for ERP (802.11g) stations is 54 Mbps.

    I am not familiar with Linux configuration. I imagine that the best speed setting for all Wi-Fi client stations is "automatic".
