Client connection issue related to WPA-PSK

Hi all,
I have a customer with a Linksys BEFW11S4 router/AP/gateway. WPA-PSK is enabled on the AP and both notebook computers. The PCs have built in wireless NICs and are running XP Home edition SP2. The clients have trouble authenticating. When the notebooks start up, they won't automatically connect. I can wait 5 minutes and they won't connect. However, they connect within 10 seconds after I cycle the power on the AP. Once connected, they stay connected. But when they are restarted, it is the same scenario. I have to reset the AP to get them to connect.
Any ideas would be appreciated! -
Hi Jeff:
Perfect case for a frame capture. Do you have a Wi-Fi protocol analyzer?
Thanks. /criss -
Hi Criss,
Yes, I did look at the activity but unfortunatly didn't save the capture session. I did notice many mgmt/deauth frames that I didn't expect to see. -
Do you remember the status codes from those frames?
-
No, I'm sorry. I don't remember the status codes for the frames.

sometimes it does depend on what is in the air around you. a few vendors have been known to "silence" the medium for their own clients for various reasons.
what are some of the other devices that you see sending out beacons?
