I'm a bit rusty on PoE, but I think the key here is the difference in the terms. First, detection signature would mean whether a device is a PoE device or not. Think laptop vs. AP.
The classification signature refers to the amount of power a PoE device requires. So, once the PoE injector detects that the connected device is PoE, then it will attempt to classify its power requirements. If it doesn't get a detection, it will default to class 0 (I think).
