1 sifs = 16 usec on 802.11a .... That's quick. don't forget that those retransmits may not be able to mask serious problems but ACK's and Retransmissions are recorded in the MIB variables which are present on all 802.11 wlan's. This information is extremely useful in identifying voice quality problems, or defending yourself when it isn't the network. Just my thoughts.
