  • Hi to everyone, I am just new here.

This is the first time that we are designing a WLAN for the whole campus building just using 1 antenna and 1 WAP. We have a 61cm (in length) dipole antenna that has a 6/8dBm gain, 30/20degrees beamwidth, and operating at 2.4/5GHz. The antenna will be connect to a 8760 3COM WAP. The WAP (without the antenna) can radiate up to 100meters or 470meters without obstruction.

The antenna and the WAP will be fit on the top of the building which has a height of 55meters. Will the signal can be propagated below the building, with or without the 6/8dBm antenna? Is it possible? I doubted.

We also need to know on how far the signal can reach and the elevation of the signal coming out from a WAP with the 6/8dBm antenna, in meters or in foot. Please let us know if there is an equation to solve this. Thanks
