The example used is. 30 mW signal with -2 dB and +9 dB, wich is according to me + 7 dB gain, wich is suppose to give me a signal strenght of 150 mW, but the book says only 100 mW.

brother u are right with ur statment but it is for 20 mw not for 30 mw..so better go through errata..it will help u ..coz book as got lots of errors and mistakes at differrent points..link is here for u brother
