I read in the CWNA book that "an ESS is started when the AP is started. The AP will process an MLME-START request primitive with the parameter BSSType set to infrastructure." The same primitive is used for starting an IBSS.
Where does this happen? In which frame? Is this primitive part of the Beacon frame, maybe the "Capability information" in the beacon frame body?
Does an AP "start" when it sends the first beacon frame or is there something else before?
thanks
