Internal or external antenna will work? why?

    when the external antennas are connected to the access point which has integrated antenna (e.g. AP 1020), only the external or internal antenna can work at one time.

    Would you please explain, which antenna is working when the access point has integrated antenna.

    Also please explain why only one antenna (may be external or internal) is working.
