Just two things.

1. Security by obscurity is not a secure network plan. More and more laptops are shipping with a/b/g cards. Also, any cracker worth their salt uses a/b/g to scan the surface of your network. As GTHill pointed out, the tools exist to break into the packets. Your card need only work with the tool you use.

2. I just bought a new card for my own use from Ubiquiti Networks. It is a/b/g with MMCX external antenna connectors. It uses the Atheros chipset and works at 300mW in 2.4 and 120mW in 5. It seems to work very well so far.
