Cracking WEP with certain patterns?

    This is just a curiosity question. I bet Dave covered it in class, but I must have been day dreaming when he covered it - he he.

    The on-line study test state when you try and guess a given static WEP key, you should try keys in groups of 5, 10, 13 or 26 characters.

    Why would we worry about the key length? If the actual key is 6 or 9 or whatever characters, what's the point?

    Thanks.

    Hi Criss.

    Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that helps clear it up. You know, when we start dreaming about this stuff at night, we're studying too much! That's bad.

    Take care;
