Bye the way, Joe Bardwell produced a white paper some time back on RF which was the best summary of the subject that I have ever seen.

One of the interesting things related to the question asked (5 GHz 2.4 GHz etc) is that if we have two links with similar parabolic dishes at each end, then for a constant EIRP, received power is independent of frequency of operation. However, for constant physical power, the received signal strength will increase with increasing frequency for fixed antenna sizes at both ends.

It really is weird stuff.
