Topographic Maps etc

Tks Chris
For those travelling to different countries, great care has to be taken with units [ feet versus meters ]. Some countries changed their measurement system from Imperial [ inches, feet etc ] to Metric [ meters etc ] and some maps in those countries are in Imperial units and some are in Metric. Many a link has failed to work due to this issue not having "picked up on".
It should also be remembered that LOCAL magnetic variation data is extremely important. In some places there are "pockets" of magnetic anomalies. for example, you may pick up a large scale map that says "mag variation 10 degrees east". That may be true in large parts of the map, but due to geological issues, you may find a ten square mile area [ or whatever ] which has variation of 30 degrees west [ this does happen in some areas ].
An analogy is when you hear "that desert is flat". Well it may be flat for 99.999% of it's area, but if there is one hill in the middle and you have to put a link in, that hill can change everything.
