I haven't taken the CWNA test in the last few years, but I'd say it's possible to pass nearly any certification test without much practical experience. That said, you're going to find it much easier to pass if you do have experience and you're less likely to make common mistakes in the real world. As Keith said, those with experience will always be valued over those who don't.
