I read about the vulnurability of WEP while preparing for the CWNA test. I want to put some of the stuffs I read to test and try things out. I want to set up a WEP encrypted wireless network and crack same. To achieve this I want to make the network very busy in order to capture enough Initialisation Vectors within few minutes.
Are there free softwares/applications out there that I can use to inject traffic into the wireless network and make it very busy?

This is the all in one wireless hacker kit. Just get a good atheros chipped card and a linux laptop and your good to go.

to inject traffic i might suggest aireplay as mentioned above. works very well.. You capture and arp from the victim and replay it back to the ap.
