It all depends...
It depends on how well you 'calibrate' your predictive wall and areas to match what is really in the building. If you don't use the correct wall 'thicknesses' then your predictions will be off.
But the REAL value of a predictive survey isn't in how accurate they reflect the actual facility, but in the speed of which one can try out different designs. Honing in on the PROPER design that meets all the design requirements.
Too many people do the 'old fashion' AP-on-a-Stick method and they are ONLY designing for RSSI... While RSSI is very important - it is only the beginning. There are many many more design parameters one must meet in order to have a *working* Wireless LAN.
A predictive tool makes meeting those additional design requirements much much easier to attain.
