Speaking from a wireless client chipset perspective, the older chipsets will be a hell of a lot slower with AES in an order of magnitude of roam times with AES being 300ms and TKIP being 50ms). AES will affect your roam times with the older wireless adapters like the Intel 2000 and 2915 centrino chipsets. Also, a majority of handheld devices like older Intermec, Symbol, Psion scanners and Palm devices do not have any crypto chips to help with AES. Their roam times will suffer. Vocera VOIP badges as well.
