I've gotten to play with Symbol's new 3.0 code. WOW! The CLI (almost identical to Cisco as you'd hope it would be) is great, the GUI is fantastic (way better than previous 2.x versions), it supports Layer-3 tunneling for APs to connect to the controller, and seamless Layer-3 roaming for clients. The GUI is extremely well designed, so the learning curve should be minimal.
I'm very impressed, and I'm sure Symbol will do well in the market with this new code when it's released. Their hardware is already very inexpensive, and their roadmap of RFID/WLAN convergence is simply brilliant.
Motorola made a sweet move buying Symbol (though I'm sure WLAN infrastructure had little to do with the decision). :-)
